The sun is out, the sky is blue, so I’ve snapped some pictures of my own garden…

We’re on to a second phase of flowering here in the Leicestershire/Derbyshire borders. Early season crocus, tulips, daffodils and bluebells have been and gone, and now the next wave of perennials and bulbs are taking centre stage.

I took a lot of photos on Wednesday, at the start of our current fine spell of weather, but by Saturday the garden had completely changed. In the three day interval between taking the shots and sitting down to write about them, my Irises and Alliums had come out, so today I took all the photographs again!

Anyway, enough talking – here are the plants:

I love this green and purple combination of the budding Delphiniums with Persicaria 'Red Dragon', all on a backdrop of raspberry canes.

I love the delicate tension in this Iris flower bud

I’ll try to take more photos as the garden progresses. Still to come are Lupins, Delphiniums, Oriental Poppies, Roses, Geranium, Sedum, Clematis, Philadelphus, Echinacea, Japanese Anemones, plus Foxgloves, Stipa and, hopefully, lots more.
