Planting design in a mature garden

We were asked by the client to refurbish a garden he’d had designed a few years previously, which had become overgrown. We cleared the site and redesigned a number of planting areas, which we planted, and specified and planted a woodland glade filled with Bluebells, Hostas, Ferns, Primulas, Anemones and Foxgloves.

The existing garden was heavily dominated by shrubs, and we suggested adding more perennials for a softer, more ‘cottage garden’ style.

Some of the shrubs were removed and some pruned severely, then new herbaceous planting was added

This bed was completely replanted with Hemerocallis, Alliums, Echinacea, Astrantia, Alchemilla, Salvia and Peonies
