Duffield, Derbyshire: A Tropical Garden Design with Innovative Landscaping

Nestled in Duffield, close to the Derbyshire Peak District, our client’s garden presented an exciting challenge: they wished to meld contemporary landscaping with a tropical paradise while enhancing privacy and useability. Facing south, this space needed to provide ample room for entertainment, be pet-friendly, and create a picturesque focal point with a BBQ and fire pit.

During construction, water was a big problem. We introduced effective drainage solutions to address water retention in the heavy clay soil. This strategic move paved the way for our innovative design.

To create a tropical garden design, we carefully curated our plant selection. Olive and Palm trees, Pleached trees, hedging, Hydrangea ‘Limelight’, Lavender ‘Hidcote’, Veronicastrum ‘Lavendelturm’, Calamagrostis ‘Karl Foerster’ all came together harmoniously, transforming the space into a serene oasis.

Central to our transformation, we designed an inviting gathering area. A spacious artificial lawn is complemented by a Grillo outdoor kitchen and a Beefeater BBQ. The elegant London Stone Paving creates an excellent finish, while the bespoke pergola by Caltef Designs, a captivating Vistafolia green wall and the stunning water table from Adezz elevate the aesthetics.

This case study encapsulates our commitment to understanding our client’s unique desires and surmounting challenges with ingenuity. We’ve transformed this garden into a tropical haven through a harmonious blend of nature and innovative features.

Thanks to Chris Belton from Ground Services Landscapes and Oliver from Stonebridge Garden Services for their expertise in bringing this design to life.
